Everbuild Fire Mate is a one-part, emulsion acrylic-based intumescent sealant designed for fire-rated structures. The product is tested to BS 476 Part 20 (1987) and, when applied to suitably designed joints, resists the passage of fire for up to 5 hours. When exposed to heat, the sealant expands to greater than 3 times its original size, forming a protective char.
No priming is required for most construction substrates. The sealant is suitable for joints up to 50mm wide and offers acoustic properties for sound deadening. It is tack-free within 15 minutes and can be overpainted. Typical applications include sealing joints, voids and irregular holes in fire walls and partitions, and maintaining the integrity of pipes and cables that penetrate fire-rated structures. It is also suitable for internal perimeter pointing of fire-rated door and window frames.
